ANCHORING
TJ Bateson
Kallim Studio 264 Tarnagulla Rd Llanelly
Open 11am-4pm
Tim and Keith: “We moved with our two dogs (Ripley and Newt) to the farm 15 months ago having closed the Melbourne gallery Tacit Art after 25 years of trading due to ill-health. ‘Anchoring’ continues TJ (Tim)'s ongoing exhibition history, having presented a solo every year since 1990, having studied at LaTrobe University in Bendigo in the early 1990s. As well as Tacit Art, solo and group exhibitions include Melbourne, Bendigo, Horsham, Queenscliff, Mornington, Churchill (all Victoria) as well as Sydney, Hobart, Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth.
KALLIM is the new studio built on the farm, approximately half of which is exclusively used as Tim’s studio with he other half a flexible, multipurpose ‘clean’ space that will host occasional exhibitions. ‘Anchoring’ is the soft launch of KALLIM as the space evolves in the coming months.
Of ‘Anchoring’, Bateson says of the work:-
…images the impact of position within an emotive exploration of story. Finding oneself in a new place, in new surroundings, in a new iteration of self, this new body of work blends shifts in both physical and emotive states, enjoying and exploring the impact of changes within creative thinking. Whilst ‘Anchoring’ travels familiar paths, the light was bound to change.
Event: Studio launch Saturday 3 October 3pm-5pm
