Eli Beke
Eli Beke makes his work to be compelling and comfortable; in its form to the eye, practicable in use as touched by a hand and to enrich the life of whosoever it may belong to. Influenced by Swedish and Japanese carved household objects, a self-taught craftsman, Beke works mainly in wood and metals, combining wood carving, modern metal fabrication and timber joinery techniques. Eli’s previous work as an electrical engineer gives him a practicable lens into creating beautiful and functional objects, and his extensive travels by bicycle across Asia in his 20s left a lasting impact on his craft. Wedge and Edge Studio is proud to offer Spoon Blanks, Spoon Carving Workshops, Team Building offerings and the finest in hand carved home wares that add value to life.
Eli joins the lineup in the Dingee Memorial Hall for WOOD WORKS, an exhibition of sculptures, bowls and vessels, mobiles, furniture, indigenous objects and carvings, with demonstrations and lots of food options too.
