Saturday 3 October Bendigo – Boort – Serpentine – East Loddon Woolshed
To get you in the mood for the spectacular premiere event, an exclusive tour of Amanda Western’s Red Bricks at the most beautiful woolshed imaginable, you head first to Boort for a morning browsing the exhibitions, then on to Serpentine for a casual country lunch while you check out a dazzling display. The bus then takes you the couple of kilometres down the road to East Loddon Woolshed, where your tour will be hosted by woolshed owner, Emily Holland.
Your bus is a Whitmore’s 24-seater with seatbelts.

Itinerary
9.30am Depart Bendigo Railway Station
10.45am Arrive Boort
Your bus will stop in the main street of picturesque Boort, a town proud of its can-do attitude and lively art scene. The Memorial Hall will be buzzing with local artists showing their work, and check out all the entries in Boortrait, an entertaining display of portraits created to celebrate the people of Boort. A short walk takes you to James Boyle Hall at the riverside Nolens Park. Here, four accomplished artists have put together a show full of colour and life, energy and joy.
12.30 Depart Boort
1.15pm Arrive Serpentine
Welcome to this important cross-roads, where Australia’s first air race was held in 1920. The Memorial Hall overlooks the all-important footy oval but for Loddon Valley Arts Trail it’s become home to art that is “Ordinary/Extraordinary” – from astonishing lifesize sculptures made out of cardboard to pretty ceramics inspired by Australian birds. Munch on home-made sandwiches and scones while you browse, and renowned artist Terry Jarvis will be demonstrating his watercolours too.
2.15pm arrive East Loddon Woolshed
2.30 pm Red Bricks Tour: this is art like you’ve never seen before. In the Vahland-designed East Loddon Woolshed, an architectural masterpiece constructed in handmade clay bricks sourced from the nearby creek bank, Ballarat artist Amanda Western has created an installation that dramatically reveals the untold history of the Ettershank family, and the shearers who made this shed famous. You will enter into the shed’s memory, with your guide, Emily Holland whose family now owns the Woolshed. You’ll hear the past come to life, then, through animated projections, the people will step towards you to tell their stories.
3.45pm depart Woolshed
4.30pm Arrive Bendigo
